The Indie Song Awards 2023 (#ALI2023) has announced the full list of Top 5 Finalists for the Pop, Rock and Hip Hop categories exclusively at the Finalist Announcement Ceremony held at ESI Hub, Spacerubix this evening.
Entering the fourth year of organizing, #ALI2023 is back stronger and more consistent in empowering the struggle of the talented Malaysian indie music community. Some variety has been injected in this season by introducing the best song categories under Pop, Rock, and Hip Hop genres.
In addition to the addition of categories, the Indie Song Awards 2023 improved the scoring format involving 30 percent public voting from online while 70 percent professional jury scoring. And most interestingly, a cumulative cash prize of RM 36,000 awaits the winner of the 2023 Indie Song Award.
Ahmed Faris Amir, Executive Producer of the Indie Song Awards said, “This year, we have received 626 songs and over 11 thousand public votes across genre categories have been received by #ALI2023 this year. Since its inception in 2020, the Indie Song Awards continue to celebrate the diverse boundaries of tracks and compositions. A total of 15 songs are eligible to compete and perform at the 2023 Indie Song Awards Final Stage which will be held on March 7, 2024.”
Jennifer Thompson, Co-Executive Producer of the Indie Song Awards said, “The songs shortlisted as Finalists for the Indie Song Awards were selected based on the quality of the songs. The selected and nominated songs must have original lyrics and music. All the songs received have been selected based on the score given by the Professional Jury which is 70%, and through a public vote at
anungurlaguindie.com.my by 30%.”
