Organizations using Hitachi Vantara’s Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) achieved a 285% return on investment (ROI), US$1.1 million in net present value (NPV) and payback in just seven months, according to a new Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study conducted by Forrester Consulting.
Commissioned by Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. (TSE: 6501), the study found that a composite organization representative of interviewed customers with experience using VSP One delivered measurable business value by improving operational efficiency, reducing costs and enabling scalability across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. Customers interviewed cited a 30 to 35 percent reduction in operational complexity, up to a 6:1 data reduction ratio, and significant time savings through automation and simplified management.
These global findings were contextualized at Hitachi Vantara ASEAN Exchange 2025, held in Phuket, Thailand, where more than 110 regional CIOs, technology leaders, and industry experts convened to discuss the implications for Southeast Asia. Leaders across manufacturing, public services, maritime, banking, financial services and healthcare underscored the urgent need for stronger data foundations to support AI readiness and sustainable digital transformation.
“We believe the study validates what we consistently hear from Southeast Asian enterprises: modern infrastructure investments pay for themselves quickly when they reduce complexity and improve efficiency,” said Adrian Johnson, Senior Vice President and General Manager, The Americas and Asia Pacific, Hitachi Vantara. “Leaders from across the region confirmed these challenges and shared practical strategies for scaling AI securely and sustainably.”

The TEI study highlighted several key financial and operational benefits. Organizations achieved a 285 percent ROI with payback in just seven months. Storage modernization delivered US$915,000 in operational efficiencies over three years, driven by a 35 percent reduction in complexity and a 40 percent decrease in troubleshooting time. Enhanced storage efficiency through compression and deduplication generated US$373,000 in savings by delaying expansion and reducing storage-related capital expenses. Furthermore, optimized workloads and faster provisioning enabled by AI and ML capabilities provided US$241,000 in time savings over three years, freeing teams for higher-value initiatives.
“Southeast Asia is moving fast on AI adoption, but data silos, low data quality, and rising security concerns are still slowing progress,” said Joe Ong, Vice President, ASEAN, Hitachi Vantara. “We feel the Forrester TEI findings show that with the right infrastructure, enterprises can achieve both cost savings and agility—critical outcomes for the region’s digital future.”
ASEAN Exchange 2025 also recognized enterprises and partners leading the way in digital transformation across Southeast Asia. Awards were presented to Hitachi Vantara’s partners across key categories including VSTECS Singapore as ASEAN Top Regional Distributor of the Year 2024, NCS Singapore as ASEAN Public Sector Partner of the Year 2024, PT Pansystems Sistim Informasindo of Indonesia as ASEAN Enterprise Partner of the Year 2024, SV Technologies JSC of Vietnam as ASEAN Strategic Growth Partner of the Year 2024, M-Security Technology Vietnam as ASEAN Best Strategic Support Distributor of the Year 2024, ST Engineering Mission Software & Services Pte. Ltd. of Singapore as ASEAN Top Strategic Partner of the Year 2024, Pro-Datech Systems Pte Ltd of Singapore as ASEAN AI Innovation Partner of the Year 2024, Ingram Micro Sdn Bhd of Malaysia as ASEAN Growth Champion Distributor for the Year 2024, Office Equipment and Information Technology Co., Ltd. of Vietnam as ASEAN Service Excellence Partner of the Year 2024, CTC Global Sdn Bhd of Malaysia as ASEAN Top Growth Partner of the Year 2024, PT Biru Amreta Trisna of Indonesia as ASEAN Growth Partner of the Year FY2024, PT. Central Data Technology of Indonesia as ASEAN Value Creation Champion Distributor of the Year 2024, and Lancaster Technology and Development Corporation of the Philippines as ASEAN Acquisition Accounts Partner of the Year FY2024.
The TEI study’s findings echo wider regional dynamics. Hitachi Vantara’s State of Data Infrastructure survey, published in December 2024, found that while 42 percent of organizations in Asia already view AI as critical, data foundations remain fragile. Models produce accurate outputs just 32 percent of the time, and only 30 percent of data is structured. These findings highlight the importance of working with partners who can provide proven ROI and practical pathways to simplify operations and prepare for AI at scale.
