Selangor Fc’s victory last night qualifies them for Asia Champion League 2, Selangor Fc managed to defeat their challenger, Kedah FC with a score of 1-0 at the Darul Aman Stadium just now.
Even sweeter, the success achieved by Tan Cheng Hoe’s men from Kedah also booked a place in the AFC Cup competition next season without having to wait for the last league match.
The victory of The Red Giants was also witnessed by the Young Ruler of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who went to the rice granary with more than 2,000 supporters of The Red Giants.
The match was lively throughout the 90 minutes with KDA’s determination to find an early goal clearly visible when they first made a direct attempt at the visitor’s goal.
Despite the dangerous moves made by the hosts, The Red Giants showed their fangs again in the 15th minute through Yohandry Orozco’s swiped shot which was however deflected out by Kalamullah Al-Hafiz to the right of the goal.
But Selangor seems to get a new tonic after the entry of Brendan Gan as a right winger. In the 57th minute, Brendan’s cross was successfully grabbed by Noor Al-Rawabdeh but the ball was pushed straight to Kalamullah who was in the middle of the goal to save the situation.
After several attempts, the only goal of the match came in the 64th minute for Selangor. Brendan’s cross landed right at the feet of their main striker from Colombia, Ayron Del Valle Rodriguez, who easily pushed past Kalamullah.
